Father's Day

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY from KENNECOTT COPPER MINE

We decided to take a trip to the largest open pit copper mine in the United States for Father's Day. We had the whole fam damily come along for an intersting day learning about the mine. The visitors center takes you up toward the top of the mine and allows partial view down into the mine. It was good to have a former employee of Kennecott (Grandpa Kerry) there to explain the mining operation to us.

Yes we even got Zak to go with us.

Here is a tid bit of information about the mine.

Could this be the start of something? Stayed tuned.

Apparently Vans are back in style.

Inside the visitor's center there are exhibits, what nots, and what have you's that share information about mining, minerals, and the history of the mine. And of course there are plenty of buttons for kids to push.

You are not allowed to have food or drink in the visitors center. Jace smuggled in a drink and felt bad so he decided to share it.

And the item that gets the most attention at the mine is the large dump truck tire. This is a rare photograph. The reason it is rare you may ask. It is one of the only pictures that exist of the tire without a family standing in front of it.

All in all it was a fun excursion. Happy Father's Day!

Emily, Is that your "little" brother, Zak? I think I last saw him when he was 7 and you sewed pajamas for him at Snow. They were pretty cool pj's!

I finally got to see your blog! First you are too busy and then my internet goes down, well for the moment I can view it and I'm so excited for you to KEEP IT UPDATED! (I guess lately I am not much one to talk!) Scentsy anyone?
